Tim Wade was born in 1971 and upon leaving school served for ten and a half years as a Mountain Expedition Leader and Advanced Physical Training Instructor in the British Army. This took him to some of the harshest climates on the planet, including the Middle Eastern deserts, the Balkan mountains, and the African jungle.
Through his love of “the outdoors” and sport, at 19 years old he took up surfing, and across 22 years, has surfed with some of the best professional surfers (and instructors) in the world. He has also travelled and surfed the Atlantic coastlines of Britain, Europe and North Africa, and resided in locations such as Lewis, Thurso, Newquay, La Sauzie, Hossegor, Biarritz, Mundaca and Tarifa; just to name a few. For a period of a nearly a year Tim surfed, dived and barbequed with the main characters of Marbella Beach Surf Club in Biarritz, and several of their leading surfers remain good friends until this day.
This passion for surfing alongside his experienced military mountains background, quickly led into a need for more – namely snowboarding, and Tim Wade has now completed his 9th complete season, resident with everyday skipass in the north-west Italian Alps, Switzerland and Eastern France. He is a semi-professional snowboarder who as well as his own snowboard academy, has received support and sponsorship through Windlip Snowboards and Crimson Event Management, promoting them both in the UK and in Italy.
Once completely fluent in Italian, Tim persues the coveted SIS Maestro di Snowboard qualification, as a far superior technical, freeride and snowpark/halfpipe standard is learned and achieved.
Tim is proud to be training amongst a top flight of European mountain and snowboarding personalities, and his peers and friends include Professional Snowboarders, Italian Regional and Olympic athletes, their professional coaching staff, advanced level freeride enthusiasts, piste construction staff, and snowpark/halfpipe shapers. Based at the snowboarding resort of the 2006 Winter Olympics, snowboarding on the Olympic pistes of several of the Games’ snowboarding events; is a daily occurance.
Tim has knowledge of 53 skiing resorts in NW Italy with 1300kms of runs, set in the beautiful valleys alongside Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn (or Monte Cervino as it’s better known by its Italian name). If backcountry untracked powder is your thing, Tim will know the best resort and routes to use, alongside his resident Alpine weather knowledge, and current weather and snow forecasts. Tim also has a helicopter at his disposal for five untouched and untracked summits, within the vicinity of Sestriere – a special service for the richer powder freeriders that he guides.
Arranging luxury, down to B&B accommodation, and snow-ready hire cars comes second nature to Tim, and he has previously Internet marketed for a chain of hotels both in Sierra Nevada, Spain, and the Pyrenees.
Ski and snowboard equipment, recommendation, advice, clothing hire and sale, is also not problem, and is regularly provided to his guided clients. Tim is ideally positioned to advise and source new and used equipment, mountain clothing and accessories. He always advises to buy/rent any equipment once you arrive with us for your snowboarding holiday in Bardonecchia, Italy. For both price and quality benefits – for this he hosts a range of for sale, and rental equipment and clothing on this website.
Tim is highly versatile and cultured in the local Italian hospitality, is experienced in the Italian culture, and is experienced in cooking Italian and other international cuisine. Locally he has organised live music events for Greenpeace and the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society through entirely voluntary motivation, and has the utmost respect for the local musicians and artists. He has experienced both the apres-ski and summertime entertainment venues of north-west Italy, so is well experienced to advise on food and drink, to tour-guide and to sight-see; the Fort of Exchilles, the Sacred Monsastry of Saint Michael, the lakes of Valle di Susa and Valle d’Aosta, and the sights of the city of Turin; just to name a few.
